Discovering the Beauty of Music
In Music this week, 3F learned about the Pipa, a traditional Chinese instrument often called the Chinese lute. They listened carefully to its beautiful sound and discovered that it has four strings and a pear-shaped wooden body, which is played by plucking.
The children also explored the pentatonic scale, which gives the pipa its distinctive sound. Using chime tubes, they practised playing the five notes and discovered that shorter tubes make higher sounds. They even felt the vibrations in the air to help them understand how sound is made. A fun and hands-on way to explore music!
Through listening, experimenting and creating, the children were truly living out our vision of Spirit; Beauty - our wonder at life and creativity.
