End of Term Newsletter
As we come to the end of another school term, we want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly successful and enriching few months. It has been a joy to see our children flourishing in Mind, Heart, Body, and Spirit—a living expression of our vision of Life in all its fullness.
Mind
Throughout the school, fantastic learning has been taking place. From our youngest children in Nursery—who are exploring the world through play and taking their first steps in English and maths—to our Year 6 pupils, who are concluding the primary curriculum and preparing for their end-of-key-stage assessments, we continue to see excellent progress. Many children are already exceeding age-related expectations.
We are proud of the breadth and richness of our curriculum. This term, highlights included Year 3’s violin lessons and the continued strength of our sports and arts provision, which enriches the learning experience for all our pupils.
Body
This term, children have shown continued commitment to looking after themselves and the world around them. We offered our widest-ever range of clubs, and it’s been wonderful to see so many children engaging in diverse extra-curricular activities after a full day of learning.
In sports, we have achieved strong results in borough competitions, with many top-three finishes—a testament to our robust and inclusive PE and sports programme.
Heart
We are always proud of the kindness and respect our children show. Visitors regularly comment on their politeness, calmness, and the warm atmosphere in our school.
A particular highlight was the feedback from members of the public who praised our Year 5 pupils for their impeccable behaviour during a visit to a secondary school—something that truly reflects their character.
Our pastoral team continues to play a vital role, providing compassionate and consistent support to children whenever challenges arise.
Spirit
We are a community that looks beyond the here and now. Next term, we will be introducing new language to help children explore spirituality—windows, mirrors, doors, and candles—which we’ll also be sharing with you.
This builds on our ongoing focus on the values of Justice and Responsibility, as children continue to reflect on their place in the world and speak up for causes that matter to them.
All of these moments—big and small—are signs of a thriving school community. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. We’re excited for the summer term ahead and look forward to seeing your children continue to grow and flourish.
Goodbyes
This week, we say farewell to two cherished members of staff:
-
Mrs Crosbie leaves us after 14 remarkable years. As an outstanding teacher and leader, she played a pivotal role in our recent Outstanding Ofsted rating and has positively impacted the lives of many children and families. We know she will be an exceptional Headteacher in her new school, and we’re excited to see her take a little bit of St Edward’s with her on this new journey.
-
Mrs MacDonald retires after 13 years of dedicated service at St Edward’s, and a long and impactful career in education. A key figure in our safeguarding team and a trusted support to many families, Tracy’s wisdom, compassion, and friendship will be greatly missed. We are grateful for all she has given and know she will remain a close friend of the school.
