End to the Academic Year...
Well, here we are! It has seemed like a very strange end to the academic year, like no other, without the usual grand finish. We did, however, have a fantastic send off for our Year 6 students yesterday with bouncy castles, ice creams and a leavers’ assembly on the field. We wish all of our Year 6 children well in their future endeavors. As I said to them yesterday, once you are part of the St Edward's family, you never leave the St Edward's family, and we look forward to hearing about all of their adventures to come.
As a school, we are very proud of all that we have achieved this year as we go from strength to strength. Our school is a really positive place going into the new academic year. Over the last few weeks we have had over 350 children in school, over half of the entire school family, and we have given every child an opportunity to come back, even for just for a short time. This is something that not many schools have been able to offer. The closure period has also allowed us time, as a teaching staff, to continue to work on developing our curriculum and we know we will return in September in an even stronger place, because of this work.
On behalf of the staff, I would like to say a big thank you for your generosity in the gifts and cards we have received. Our staff have worked tirelessly this year, with the last few months proving more challenging that most have experienced in their careers. Your words, prayers and kind thoughts have kept us going, so thank you for that.
Whilst school will formally be 'closed' from Monday, we will be continuing to monitor the school email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) throughout the summer. If you need any help or support, we do encourage you to contact us.
Children return to school, into their new classes, on Monday, 7th September. We will expect children to return to school in the correct school uniform. Before Autumn Half term, parents can choose to send children in in either their Summer or Winter uniform. After half term, winter uniform will be expected.
We will send further information out nearer the time if plans are to change, depending on the nature of the COVID-19 situation. We will also send some 'reminder' information out regarding any changes to 'normal' school that will be in place due to the ongoing pandemic.
I wish you all a restful and enjoyable summer, and I look forward to seeing you, and your children, again in September.
With love and many blessings,
