'Traditional Tales' with Reception

This week in Reception our learning has been based around the story of The Gingerbread Man, as part of this half term’s topic ‘Traditional Tales’.
We read the story and talked about other ways that the Gingerbread Man could cross the river, without the fox, to stop himself from being eaten. We decided that he could walk across the river, but when we tested this idea, we found that the Gingerbread Man crumbled into the water!
So, Reception completed an experiment to find out which type of biscuit is the strongest in water. In our groups we made predictions, talked about how to make our experiment a fair test, wrote down our findings and talked about our conclusion. We found out that shortbread is the strongest biscuit as it takes the longest to absorb water, so this would be the best biscuit to be made from to cross over the river.
Run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the… Shortbread Man!
