Weekly News

I hope this email finds you well. This week has been a wonderful celebration in school. One of the highlights has to be the Year 6 production which has filled our school with laughs, cheers and tears of joy and pride (from the staff and parents!). We also received their end of Key Stage 2 SATS results this week, which will be sent home with their reports today, and we are exceptionally proud of how well they have achieved. Whilst tests are an inevitable part of a child's educational journey, they do not capture so many things of the child that we, and yourselves as parents see. Nevertheless, we are really proud of how our children achieve academically (in mind), as well as in heart, body and spirit at our school. The final week and a half of this term will continue to be a celebration of who they are.

Learning very much continues at pace though in school, will do right until the end of the term, making the most of every opportunity. We took a short break from the normal routines on Wednesday for the children to meet their new teachers. It was lovely to go around school and see the children really enjoying getting to know their children and a number of them considering what living out our school values in their new classrooms will be like. With a very consistent staff in school next year, our staff were very well prepared and knew their classes well already, which was great to see.

HAF Summer Club

Our HAF Summer Club has once again been exceptionally popular, with up to 50 children attending each day. Mr Nunn and the team have provided a fantastic program including new things such as 'nerf wars' and swimming sessions. There is still time to book up for any days during the three weeks it is running. Do contact the office for more information. It would really help the running and organisation of the club if you could make your booking by Friday 18th July so that we have a good idea of who is coming for catering purposes.

Term time absence

A reminder that, as shared in our attendance policy, we are unable to authorise term time absences. Our school attendance is very strong at the moment, which is a real testament to the excellent partnership between parents and school, and that our children feel happy and safe to attend regularly. Our term dates for next academic year are already available on our school website so please make yourselves aware of these when considering booking time away.

Work Week

Next week we will be holding our second ‘work week’ at St Edward’s. Further to our email last week, if parents are able to spare some time on Wednesday afternoon to come into school and share information about their jobs and career highlights we would greatly appreciate it. The afternoon of Wednesday 16th July will see children attend 3 different sessions, lasting 20 minutes each, and give them the opportunity to ask questions about career paths and understand more about life beyond school. If you are able to volunteer your time at school for this event, please complete the google form here.

End of Term Arrangements

PE and Swimming continues next week as normal. We have had some problems with the pool this week (which frustrates as just as much as the children!) but this should be resolved so they can enjoy their last week of swimming. On Monday 21st July, we ask children to bring in a number of strong, labelled carrier bags to school so they can take their books and belongings home, to allow us to clear their trays and cloakrooms. School finishes at normal time on Tuesday 22nd July. After School club will close at 5pm on this Tuesday. Further reminders will be sent out next week.
