Weekly News
Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope you’ve had a wonderful week! It has been a busy and exciting time at St. Edward’s, filled with fantastic learning opportunities and special moments.
On Wednesday, we were thrilled to welcome Hip Hop artist Karl Nova to our school. He captivated the children with an inspiring performance and shared insights about what fuels his own creative writing. Year 3 even had the chance to write and perform their own group poem, which was a wonderful experience. The children thoroughly enjoyed hearing about Karl’s work and left feeling inspired.
A big congratulations to the three classes that achieved 100% attendance this week! Regular attendance is key to ensuring that your children make excellent progress in their learning. Thank you so much for your ongoing support in making this happen.
As we head into the last week before half-term, there are several key events to be aware of:
Cultural Dress Day – Friday, 25th October
As part of our Black History Month celebrations, we will be holding a Cultural Dress Day next Friday. Children are invited to come to school in non-uniform, with a special focus on wearing clothes from their own culture or any other culture they admire. We also warmly invite parents to join in the fun by wearing cultural attire at drop-off and pick-up times. Let’s celebrate the rich diversity in our school community!
Parent-Teacher Meetings – Monday, 21st October and Wednesday, 23rd October
We’re excited to meet with you during our Parent-Teacher Meetings next week. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate your child’s achievements and progress this term. Over 90% of parents have already booked appointments—thank you! If you haven’t yet, please reach out to your child’s class teacher to arrange a suitable time. As the school will be open to adults for meetings, any late-collected children will be placed into the hall with the After School Club and this childcare will be charged for.
Clubs Next Week
As stated on our calendar and the club information email, please note that there will be no school-run clubs next week due to the Parent-Teacher Meetings. However, externally-run clubs (1st Class Kids Football, Starshine, and Mr. Nunn’s Next Generation Clubs) will continue as per their normal schedule.
School Car Park
Please remember that our car park is for staff and visitors only. Please remember to use the pedestrian access to school and not walk through the car park. As we approach the time when the clocks change it is becoming darker and wetter and it is dangerous for children to be in the staff car park.
Uniform
Please remember to label your child’s uniform and belongings as we are finding an increasing amount of lost property that we are unable to return to it’s owner because it is un-named. We currently have around five coats in the school office with no names on, for example. We will be placing a lost property table outside the school office at the end of the day next Friday.
Half Term Break
Next Friday marks the last day of this half term. School and After School Club will finish at the usual times. School will be closed from Monday, 28th October to Friday, 1st November for the half-term break, and we will resume on Monday, 4th November for the second half of the Autumn Term.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. St. Edward’s truly is a special place, and we feel privileged to partner with you on your children’s educational journey.
Wishing you a restful and enjoyable weekend!
Kind regards,
Chris Speller & Joy Sajuwa
