Weekly News

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this email finds you well at the start of this new half term. It has been great to have some more sunshine this week and the children have been making the most of this in our outdoor times. We took this as an opportunity to have a fire drill this week, whilst the sun was shining. It was great to see how our children showed our school value of responsibility brilliantly whilst we did this.

As part of our Collective Worship this week, we began our new five week series on the stories of the cross. This week we looked at Jesus' temptation in the desert and reminded ourselves that we all have choices to make, each and every day, and the choices we make have a big impact! We encouraged our children to think about how they can ensure the choices they make reflect our school values, and show love to others, so that we and those around us live life in all its fullness!

Curriculum Learning
With the new half term comes the excitement of our new curriculum topics. More information about what your child is learning at school can be found on our school website here

World Book Day
Next Friday 6th March we will be celebrating World Book Day. Children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book characters. During the day there will be a range of book-related activities taking place in school. Additionally, on Monday morning our community shed will have a few second hand costumes available so please do come and take a look.

School Summer Holiday Club
A number of parents have asked us if we will be running this again. We are pleased to say that we will be running this for three weeks, the weeks beginning the 3rd, 10th and 17th August. More information will be sent at the start of the Summer term.

Music Mark
We are very pleased to announce that Havering Music School have awarded us with a Music Mark of Recognition for Dedication & Improvement! Our music curriculum and experiences are very much at the heart of St Edward's and we are extremely proud of the partnership that we continue to hold with Havering Music School.

Term Dates
Our Term Dates for 2026-27 are now on our website here (subject to Governor ratification). Please ensure you refer to these when booking overseas travel, as we aim to give parents plenty of notice to ensure all overseas travel only takes place during the school holidays. As we have shared before, it is very important that you ensure your children attend school as frequently as possible. Children who attend school well, achieve well. Please work with us to ensure that your child has the best possible attendance at school.

Parent Teacher Meetings
Parent Teacher Meetings for this term are scheduled for Monday 16th March and Wednesday 18th March. Next week you will receive a link to book appointments so keep a look out for this.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Kind regards,

Chris Speller
