Weekly News

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you’ve had a wonderful week, despite the wet weather setting in. While it may have been cloudy outside, we've been creating our own sunshine at school this week!

It's been fantastic to see children embracing our many extra-curricular activities, including Christmas Production Club, Golf Club, Autumn Club, and Ballet Club, to name just a few.

This week, our Governors held their first meeting of the new academic year. We are incredibly fortunate to have a team of knowledgeable and dedicated governors who are deeply committed to supporting the school and ensuring the best outcomes for our children. Several of our governors will be around school at Parents' Evening in a few weeks, but in the meantime, you can learn more about them on our website here.

In Collective Worship this week, we focused on the theme of 'Keeping Safe,' discussing how to stay safe both in school and at home. We reminded the children that our top priority as the adults in school is to ensure that they are both safe and happy. We’re proud to foster an environment where children thrive. If you have any concerns about your child or another child, please don't hesitate to speak to us as soon as possible so we can work together to provide the necessary support.

Our children are now fully engaged in this half-term’s learning. It’s wonderful to see how well our Nursery and Reception children have settled in; their learning environments are calm, focused, and full of joy! Across the school, we’re already witnessing some outstanding writing, marvelous maths, and super science. Our Facebook page offers a small snapshot of the many great things happening. To learn more about what your child is studying, you can check the year group Dojo messages/newsletters, visit our Curriculum webpage on the school website, or—most importantly—talk to your children.

Please note the following important updates for next week:

Harvest Collection
On Monday, 7th October, we will hold our Harvest Festival in school. Next week, we will be collecting dried, packaged, and tinned goods, as well as toiletries, to donate to the Romford Foodbank. Please send your child in with a tin or package so they can contribute to our school collection, as we explore the importance of helping those in need.

Parent Workshop– Supporting Your Child with Phonics: Thursday, 3rd October

Next week, we continue our series of parent workshops with a session on supporting your child with phonics. This informative workshop will cover how we teach phonics using our Read Write Inc. scheme, and how you can support your child’s learning at home. Refreshments will be provided, and there will be resources available for you to take home. The same session will be offered at 8:50 am and 6 pm in the Main Hall, lasting about one hour.

Toddler Group
Our school Toddler Group is back, starting this Wednesday, 2nd October. This weekly group is a wonderful space for parents, friends, and family with little ones to meet other adults, for the children to play together, and to engage in songs, games, and crafts. No registration is needed and there is no cost—simply come to the Office from 9 am on Wednesdays and you will be warmly welcomed. Please feel free to share this with friends.

Black History Month

Next month, we have several exciting events and special guests planned to celebrate Black History Month. Please refer to the email and information shared earlier this week for details. We look forward to sharing these wonderful experiences with you in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement, it is really appreciated.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Kind regards,

Chris Speller
