Weekly Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

It has been great to welcome your children back to school for what has been a great first week back in school.

On Monday we had some fantastic training in school, as part of a program we are running for staff in school called the 'National Postgraduate Qualification in Leading Teaching', focusing during this INSET Day on How Pupils Learn and what this looks like in our classrooms. It was a great opportunity for us, as educators, to also be learners and continue to refine our own practice. We have uploaded our INSET Days for the next academic year onto our school website here. We ask that parents ensure that holidays and absences are booked around these and we hope that giving you these dates in advance allows you to do this.

On Wednesday we welcomed twelve school leaders from across the country into school for the day, to see our school’s Inclusion provision, an area that has been highlighted as an 'area of excellence' for our school. The visitors all commented on how they could see our school vision of 'Life in all its fullness' lived out in our classrooms and corridors and were incredibly impressed, as I am every day, with our staff and pupils.

There is plenty going on this term, so please do see the news and notices below!

Spring Term Calendar

Please find, attached, a copy of our calendar for this half term. Although it is only five weeks long, you will see there is plenty going on. You can also find all our dates on our school website.

World Book Day

Next Friday, 8th March, we will be celebrating World Book Day in school. Children are welcome to come in dressed as a book character of their choice. If you have any old, good condition, washed costumes, that you no longer use, we would very much welcome donations to the school office as we will give out, on the day, costumes to any children who do not have one but who would like one.

School Appeal

We would like to say a huge 'thank you' to those parents who have already committed to contribute to our school appeal. As a voluntary aided school, a status that allows us to maintain our distinctiveness, we rely on these donations for many of the great projects we fund in school, including outdoor play equipment and our pool. If you would like any more information about this, please do not hesitate to contact myself or Mrs Thomson, our School Business Manager.

Parent Teacher Meetings.

As you will see on the calendar, parent teacher meetings will be taking place on Monday 18th and Wednesday 20th March. We have chosen to bring these meetings forward to the Spring Term, responding to feedback from parents about the positive experiences they have with regular meetings with our teachers. Bookings will open from next week.

Fr David moving on from St Edward's Church

It was announced recently that Father David, Vicar of St Edward's the Confessor Church, will be moving on from his role with his last Sunday being 17th March. We are grateful to Father David for his support and encouragement and wish him well in his new role.

Online Safety Workshop

It was great to see a number of parents at our online safety workshop evening. A copy of the presentation can be found here.

Thank you all for your ongoing support. As always, if you have any questions, concerns or feedback (including positive things for us to share with staff), please do not hesitate to contact myself, Mrs Sajuwa, a member of the Leadership Team or your child's teacher. It is genuinely a privilege to partner with you in educating your children and we look forward to what will be a positive and exciting half term together.

Kind regards,

Chris Speller

Head Teacher
