Weekly Update

Friday, 3th December 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Happy Friday! As we roll into December, there certainly has been a festive feel in the air which has made this week feel rather wonderful! I would like to say a big 'Thank You' to Mr Kendrick-White, my PA, for all his efforts in making our site look very Christmassy this week. We also had two lovely services at St Edward's Church on Wednesday as we marked the start of Advent. This week also marked the final week of this terms' extra-curricular activities. I want to thank every member of staff who gave up their time to provide these excellent opportunities for our children. Our new clubs, for the Spring Term, will be released after Christmas. Plans are underway for the last few weeks of term. Whilst learning will very much be continuing right up until the end, we are beginning our plans and preparations for important Christmas events too. Please see some key news and notices below:

Christmas Grand Prize Draw
Today, we will be sending home Grand Draw tickets, following the email that came around earlier today! We rely on these events to fundraise for the 'special extras' we do in school, so your support is very much appreciated. Do ask friends, family and neighbours to take part. We have some truly excellent prizes too and we are grateful to the individuals and companies who have donated! If you need extra tickets, you can collect them from the school office. Please ensure all tickets and monies are in by 12noon on Wednesday 15th December.

Virtual Christmas Card
Once again unfortunately we will not be having paper Christmas Cards. We will be having a more environmentally friendly online card again. Please do post your message and picture at: https://visufund.com/christmas-greetings-to-st-edwards-december-2021 It has been great to see them appearing already. Children will be looking at these regularly in class over the coming weeks.

Christmas Jumper Day and Christmas Dinner
Next Friday is Christmas Jumper Day and Christmas Dinner day! Children will be able to pay £2 for Christmas Jumper Day either on ParentPay or via a cash donation on the day.

We have had amazing donations of over 40 'too small' jumpers which will be washed and prepared so we hopefully have a small stock for anyone who is in need for us to provide them with a jumper at this time. You can fill in this confidential form and we will discretely deliver a jumper to your child so they can take part in the festivities. https://forms.gle/GhnRMVyary5NfYHD7

Christmas Film Night- Wednesday 15th December
On Wednesday 15th December (note the change of date from Monday 13th as previously advertised) we will be having our Christmas Film Night from 3pm-4:45pm. Children can be booked on via ParentPay for £4 a ticket.

Christmas Nativities in School
The DfE guidance continues to say that school nativities can go ahead at this time. This will be reviewed constantly and we reserve the right to move online only if we feel the need to, in order to keep our school community safe. Emails have been sent to Early Years and Key Stage 1 for parents to book a ticket. For Year 3/4 & Year 5/6, parents/carers are welcome to join at church. This will not be ticketed as it is a bigger space with more capacity. We do ask that parents wear masks whilst at the events and take an LFT test prior to attending.

Kind regards,

Chris Speller
