Friday, 4th November 2022
I hope this email finds you well. It has been lovely to welcome our children back to school this week after the half term holidays. Despite the wet and slightly gloomy weather outside, they have been filling our school building with their usual joy and sunshine!
This week has been a busy week in school. On Tuesday, some of our Year 3 children visited the Romford Food Bank with our Harvest Collection. We, and the Food Bank, were really impressed and overwhelmed with the generosity shown, so a big 'Thank You' for all of your donations which will be very much needed and appreciated by those who receive them. On Wednesday, our Year 6 netball team went to the borough Netball Tournament where they came second overall. We are so proud of them and really pleased to see the strength and success of our school sporting achievements continue. Yesterday, Father David came into school and led our Collective Worship looking at 'All Saints Day', remembering saints and the lives they lived.
Please see, below, a number of important notices for the coming weeks:
Remembrance Day- Poppy Collection
Next Friday, the 11th November, we will be stopping at 11am to mark Remembrance Day. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, our school prefects will be selling poppies, for children to wear, from the British Legion. We ask for children to bring in £1 if they wish to purchase a poppy.
As you will be aware, children should now be dressed in their winter uniform. Children wearing a shirt should always wear a tie too, which can be purchased via ParentPay. We ask that children ensure their top buttons are done up and shirts tucked in. Please support us by ensuring your child arrives to school dressed in this way. Please may we also remind you that earrings and other jewellery should not be worn in school. Children will be asked to remove jewellery.
‘Travelling Books’ book fair
Thank you to all of the parents who came and supported the Travelling Books book fair last half term. We are pleased to announce that it was very successful, and we raised over £600 to spend on new books! We look forward to sharing these with the children very soon.
Parent Teacher Meetings
Our Parent Teacher Meetings take place on Monday 14th and Wednesday 16th November. If you have not yet booked an appointment, you can do so via the Groupcall Parents Evening Booking System following the link here: https://parents-booking.co.uk/stedwardsva
Please ensure that appointments are booked by 12 noon on Friday, 11th November.
To launch the week Monday 14th – Friday 18th November, we will have an odd sock day, when children can come in to school wearing odd socks, to create a new and fun way of celebrating our uniqueness, diversity and unity. Odd Socks Day is an opportunity to have fun, be yourself and spread awareness of our core values of Respect, Friendship and Thankfulness. Odd sock day will be on Monday, 14th November 2022.
