Weekly Update

Friday, 7th January 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

It has been great to see your children back in school this week, continuing with their learning and growing together. Thank you for your support with keeping us safe- it has been very reassuring to see parents/carers wear masks when moving around the site.

Please see below a number of notices for this week:

Closure of School Office

Due to rising cases in the wider community, we will be closing our School Office for face-to-face contact with parents again. This keeps our staff safe and, consequently, the pupils and colleagues our office staff come into contact with. Please contact the school office initially via email or phone. If parents/carers are bringing children in late, or collecting them early, you will be asked to wait outside. Thank you for your support with this.

Extra-Curricular Clubs

A number of parents have asked about the resumption of this term’s clubs. At the moment, we have taken the decision to delay the start of teacher-led clubs this term so we can monitor the number of cases in school before we begin mixing children and staff across classes and year groups in this way. We do not want to send out information about clubs and then have to cancel them before they have started, causing disappointment to children and disruption to families. We will review this again in two weeks.

Clubs provided by external providers will be continuing. Football Clubs, which resume next week, can be booked via this link: https://firstclasskidsclub.class4kids.co.uk/

Knowledge Organisers

As a school, it is very important to work in partnership with parents to give you a greater understanding about what your child(ren) are learning. This helps you in your discussions with them at home which supports their learning. All children were sent home with a paper copy of their ‘Knowledge Organiser’ for this term, but these can also be found online at the bottom of our Curriculum Page:  https://www.stedwardsva.net/The-Curriculum/

Applications for Reception and Nursery- September 2022

Applications for our September 2022 cohort close next Saturday (15th January). Applications should be made via your Local Authority.

Our Nursery Applications for the 2022-23 academic year are also being accepted, with places being allocated a few weeks before the start of each term. Our Nursery is currently oversubscribed for this academic year, so we encourage parents to submit applications early in order to avoid disappointment.

Have a fantastic weekend. Stay safe and enjoy time with those you love.

Kind regards,

Chris Speller
