Weekly Update

Friday, 7th July 2023

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this email finds you well. It has been a very busy but fantastically enjoyable week in school! Our Sports Days have been a real success and parent feedback has been excellent. A huge thank you to parents for your participation and support. My personal thanks to Mr Inayat for his hard work in organising these days so successfully.

On Wednesday, 81 of us went to see ‘Matilda’ the Musical in London which was a fantastic event and great to see the West End version of the production, ahead of our Year 6 performances next week. I am yet to see the production yet, but I have heard 'rave reviews' from those who have seen the dress rehearsals recently. If you would like to come and see the performance, please do contact Miss Collyer in the office to see if we can get you some spare tickets and fill up the performances.

Summer Fayre- THIS SATURDAY 11am-3pm

Tomorrow is our highly-anticipated Summer Fayre, a fantastic community get together at the end of the year. The weather is meant to be lovely and the BBQ will be ready to go, so it will be fantastic to see as many of you there as possible.

Bouncy castles/inflatables wristbands have been selling well. These have now ended on ParentPay but will be available tomorrow to buy at the fayre.  These are £5 and give access to the inflatables for the day and a drink too! We look forward to performances from our Starshine group and there will be plenty of activities for you and your children to get involved with. All money raised will support the school fund and provide more opportunities for our children here at St Edward’s.

Celebrate the Street
Please see the attached programme of exciting events taking place in Romford this weekend.

School Reports

On Monday, we will be sending home your child(ren)s school reports. We will also be sharing the letter outlining class teachers for next year, ahead of 'Meet the Teacher' morning on Tuesday. A copy of this letter will be emailed to parents on Monday afternoon too.

The exception to this will be Year 6. Due to the coronation Bank Holiday delaying the KS2 assessments, SATS results are not due into school until Tuesday (a week later than normal). We will therefore be sending Year 6's reports home slightly later in the week, once we have had time to download and process their results, ready to be shared with parents. A further email will be sent out to inform you when the reports are coming home.

Book Amnesty

If your house is anything like mine, you will have found an array of school reading and library books in different places. Over the next week we are having a 'book amnesty' and we ask that you have a good look for any school books that need to be returned and bring them back to the school office so they can be returned and processed, ready for the new year.

Finally, a reminder that we have just two weeks left of this academic year! School finishes on Friday 21st July at the normal time. On this day, After School Club will close at 5pm. Children return to school on Wednesday 6th September 2023 for the new academic year.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Kind regards,

Chris Speller

Head Teacher
