Friday, 12th January
I hope this newsletter finds you all well. It has been fantastic to be in school for the first 'full' week of this new calendar year. We started this week, in our time of Collective Worship, considering the choices we are going to make as we go into this year, as part of our new year’s resolutions. Are we going to choose to persevere or give up? To be selfish or selfless? To offer a smile or to pass someone by? It has been great to see our children considering this in the choices they made this week and seeing the warmth that has filled the building now we are back together.
On Wednesday we welcomed the Bishop of Barking, the Rt Revd Lynne Cullens, to school along with Havering Local Authority’s Director of Education, the Council Cabinet member for Children, and a number of other guests, including parents, to attend the opening of our new SEND Unit. After years of planning, building and training, we are delighted this space is now open and the children who attend 'The Treehouse' are thriving. As you will know, we are passionate about being an inclusive school where all children, including those with additional needs, can thrive and live in our school vision of 'Life in all its fullness' and we are privileged to be given the responsibility of opening this new provision as a result of the wider successes in our school. Please do take a look at the photos on our Facebook page to see some insights into this wonderful space.
Yesterday we thoroughly enjoyed welcoming a parents to our first parent workshop of the year, looking at how you can support your children in learning to read. The questions and engagement were excellent and we will post an online recorded version of the presentation for parents who were unable to attend next week.
