Weekly Update
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you are all doing well. It has been a shorter week in school, due to the bank holiday, but has still been a busy one. It has been great to be able to enjoy the warmer weather too!
Next week our Year 6 children are undertaking their end of Key Stage 2 assessments. We are so proud of how well they have done during their time with us, how hard they have worked in their preparations, and that they are ready for the next stage of their education. Whilst we understand the importance of assessments, we also know that these tests do not define our children... it does not celebrate those children who can speak multiple languages; it does not celebrate those children who are incredible performers and warm the hearts of their audiences; it does not tell the story of the incredible challenges some of our children have had to overcome; it does not celebrate the beautifully kind, caring and respectful children they have grown into. These tests or results do not shape their identity as beautifully and wonderfully created individuals who we know will go on to thrive. Please do keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming week.
Please see some important items of news and notices below:
Attendance Matters
A huge thank you for your support in ensuring your children attend school regularly. This week we had over 97.3% of children attend school on one day- our highest of the year so far! In line with borough policy, we are unable to approve term time absences, including for weddings abroad etc., so please do all you can to ensure that absences take place during the school holidays. The term dates for 2024-25 are available on our school website to give you plenty of time to plan ahead for next academic year.
Weather and Uniform
With a welcome spell of hot weather, please remember to make sure that your child has a named re-fillable water bottle in school. Also, they should have a school sun cap which can be purchased via the school shop. With regards to uniform, this is the time of year when the lost property grows as children leave blazers, jumpers, caps etc around the school. Please make sure that all uniform is named so that items can be returned to their owner.
SATS
A reminder to parents and carers of Year 6 children that arrangements for SATS next week and end-of-term information was sent on Tuesday 8th May. Please refer to this email for further details and contact the school office if you have any questions.
Have a fantastic weekend and we look forward to seeing your children back in school on Monday.
Kind regards,
Chris Speller
