Weekly Update

Friday, 12th May 2023

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are well and enjoying your week. After a shorter week following the bank holiday weekend and Coronation celebrations, which seem a long time ago now, we have had a very positive week in school. Our Year 6 children have completed their end of Key Stage assessments this week. We are SO proud of them and the positive attitudes they have shown this week and throughout the year. These tests do not define our children: it does not acknowledge those who can speak multiple languages, play musical instruments beautifully or the kind, caring children they have grown into, making an impact on the communities they are part of. The tests are just a snapshot at a point in time. Children have approached this week with maturity and determination, which they should be commended for.

It has also been great to see a number of trips take place this week and our vast extra-curricular program for this term commence. Do take a look at our Facebook page to see a number of the highlights.

Here are a few useful items of news for the coming weeks:

School Photographs - Class and Whole School

As noted in our previous email, a reminder that it is class photos on Tuesday, 16th May and our whole school photo on Tuesday, 23rd May. Please ensure your children come to school 'photo ready' in their summer uniform.

Community Shop
Located on the upper path, opposite the main office, we are opening a Community Shop. Parents are welcome to visit on Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons. Please see the attached leaflet for more information.

A reminder that Friday, 26th May is an INSET Day and therefore children will not attend school. This is the last day before our school half term holiday (Monday 29th May- Friday 2nd June).

Autism Awareness Training

The Sycamore Trust, who support parents living with children with Autism, are running an online training event on Monday 12th June. Please see the leaflet, attached, if you are interested in attending.

Adventure Island Southend

Hopefully some good weather is on the way so we just wanted to remind you that we are selling vouchers for Adventure Island wristbands.  You can purchase these from our Parentpay School shop.

Have a fantastic weekend, and we look forward to seeing your children back in school this Monday!

Kind regards,

Chris Speller
