Weekly Update

Friday, 15th July 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

Here we are at the end of our final '5 day' week! We have had such a wonderful week in school too.

On Monday we had over 100 of our children perform in our Summer Music Concert. This was a beautiful celebration of children's musical gifts and our wider school music provision. As I said to parents on the night, I am grateful every day that my parents invested in me and my music education and it is fantastic to see our parents, today, doing the same for their children.  On Tuesday our children met their new teachers in a very positive and exciting day in school. We are so blessed to have such an excellent teaching team at St Edward's and I know they are really excited to begin this new learning journey with their classes. We also cannot forget our Year 6 production of the Lion King which was truly exceptional. They performed six times this week, to the school and to parents, and they did themselves, their parents and us as a school very proud. You can see a small montage of clips from the play on our school Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/stedwardsva

Please check at home for any library or reading books that you may have and return them to school.

The weather is expected to be very hot once again next week. We will be sending around any needed updates to parents but we ask that you ensure children come into school dressed appropriately, with a sun hat, water bottle, and that sun cream is applied at the start of the day.

We have made the decision to allow parents, if you wish, to collect your children early on Monday or Tuesday. Parents may come to the office from 1pm if you would like your child at home to avoid the most intense afternoon heat. However, from 2.45pm, children will be expected to remain in school until the normal dismissal time of 3.10pm.

Our lunch menu next Thursday has changed to the following: Beef burger, fish fingers or margherita pizza, all served with chips and peas or baked beans. Vanilla ice cream, yoghurt or crackers for desert.

Please see below some key dates for next week:

For parents with children new to Nursery and Reception, you will have received an appointment to ‘Meet the teacher’ on Monday 5th, Tuesday 6th or Wednesday 7th September. From Monday 12th September, children attend school as normal.

Thank you for your continued support, have a lovely weekend.
