Weekly Update

Friday, 14th July 2023

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this email finds you well. We are very quickly approaching the end of this academic year, yet the pace of adventure in school has continued! This week we were thrilled by the Year 6 production of 'Matilda JR.'. The children acted, sang and danced brilliantly. We are really proud of our wider school provision and that children not only learn and achieve well, but get to take part in such fantastic performing opportunities.

It was great to be able to send home reports this week too and celebrate the efforts and achievements of children this year. We have had some lovely emails, feedback and thanks from parents, which we are very grateful for. On Tuesday, children spent the morning with their new class teachers who are all very excited to begin the new year with their children.

Today, our Year 5 children have been to the Secondary Academy for a 'Secondary Taster Day', to learn more about life in Secondary School, ahead of them visiting open days in September.

As you will have seen, our Nursery Building project is well underway and, within a week, the walls are nearly completed! We are really pleased that this will provide extra capacity to our constantly over-subscribed Nursery and that more children will be able to begin their earliest years of education here at St Edward's.

Below are a few important notices about next week:

Uniform

If you have any spare/outgrown good quality uniform, particularly if your child is leaving at the end of the year, please do bring this to the School Office so we can give this out to be reused.

Taking Books home

We ask that children bring in STRONG (ideally 'bags for life') bags on Tuesday next week so that they can bring home any exercise/workbooks that they have. For environmental, financial and continuation of learning reasons, any incomplete books are sent up to the next year group for children to continue to work in during the next academic year, so you may not get a 'full set' of subjects.

Adventure Island

If anyone would like to purchase vouchers for Adventure Island to use in the holidays, please order by Tuesday to allow the Finance office time to process. Vouchers can be purchased following the link to our school shop here

Outstanding Payments

If you have any outstanding payments to make for Breakfast Club, After School Club, Nursery Invoices or sQuid dinner money, please can settle these as soon as possible before the end of term.

Lost Property

There will be a table set out on Thursday by the Nursery doors from 3.10-3.30pm for any lost property items/uniform to be taken home.

Final Day of Term

School finishes on Friday, 21st July at the normal time. After School Club closes at 5pm on this day.

Dates for next week:

Monday 17th July- Year 6 Leavers' Service at St Edward's church at 6pm

Friday 21st July- End of term- school finishes at normal time.

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards,

Chris Speller
