Weekly Update

Friday, 19th November 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope you have had a fantastic week. School has been a hive of activity this week with trips to the cinema, sports competitions and parents' evening!

Please see some key notes below:

Sweet wrappers!
Next week some of our classes will be making collages out of sweet wrappers in their Art lessons. If you are indulging in a sweet treat over the weekend, there will be a box outside the office for any wrapper deposits.

School photos
This week we managed to successfully have our individual and sibling photos. We had to do things in a slightly different order than planned as one of our photographers had a sudden bereavement, but we are pleased we could speed through to get them all done. Thank you for your support in ensuring children come to school in their uniform. Forms are due into school by Thursday 25th November if you are not buying online.

Breakfast and After-school Club
Please can we remind parents that they should book on to both of our clubs as this helps us with staffing and catering. Some days we have only had 10 children booked in but over 40 attend. A reminder that if children are collected late, after 3:20, we reserve the right to charge for the childcare we then have to provide in our After-school Club, beyond our core school hours.

A huge thank you to those of you who have donated shoeboxes. We already have over 120 and will give a final total next week. If you have not brought them in, please do take them to your nearest 'Entertainer' toshop who also collect them.

Christmas Jumper donations
If you have any outgrown Christmas Jumpers, the deadline for donating them is next Friday, so we can prepare them for redistribution. A big 'thank you' to those of you who have already donated. If you are buying a new one this year, from personal experience, do get in early! All dates for our Christmas events are on our website.

Uniform Consultation
As a leadership team, alongside our governors, we will be reviewing elements of our current uniform policy, where some of what is written does not match what happens! We  also want to ensure that we maintain our smart, traditional and historical look, whilst keeping our uniform affordable. We invite parents to contribute their feelings/opinions towards a few changes we are considering. These are not final decisions or suggestions, and some contradict others. It is just an opportunity to help gauge initial feelings before going back to parents if we feel changes are needed. You can contribute here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdOblfj7RskzAMOxVDmW74q2GcqSsYrPauaIYyK_1lMISzkqg/viewform?usp=sf_link

The number of COVID cases in school, whilst remaining low, has risen this week amongst both staff and pupils. Please continue to be vigilant of children's symptoms and we encourage you to engage in regular testing at home.

Have a fantastic weekend. Stay safe and look after yourselves and those you love.

Kind regards,
Chris Speller
