Weekly Update

Thursday, 20th October 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

It has been wonderful to see our children dressed so beautifully in their colourful and cultural dress today. We have really enjoyed our Black History Month celebrations and today was a very fitting end to the month. If you haven't seen already, please do visit our Facebook page to see more about what we have been doing: http://www.facebook.com/stedwardsva

Tomorrow is an INSET day and school is therefore closed to children. Children should return on Monday 31st October 2022. You will receive information in the first week back. There will be many exciting things going on as we mark the World Cup and as we head towards our Christmas celebrations.

This year we will be running our Shoebox Appeal and our Christmas Hangar decorations. We would encourage parents to keep this in mind as you may wish to begin preparing for this over the holiday.

During the next half term, we will be undergoing some significant building work in school. This includes replacing the glass 'lanterns' over the Early Years and Year 1/2 shared areas, as these are not energy efficient; being incredibly cold in the winter and incredibly hot in the summer, sometimes unusable due to the temperature. We are also having the roof replaced over Early Years, Key Stage 1 and the School Offices to ensure they are energy efficient and to stop some of the small leaks that have been occurring. You will therefore notice scaffolding that will be installed over the holiday and also a small compound that will be erected on the Key Stage 1 playground. More information about this project will be shared throughout the term and we are really pleased to be having this much-needed investment made in continuing to improve our school building.

I hope and pray you have a safe and enjoyable holiday. Our school email address, contact@stedwardsva.net , will continue to be monitored throughout the week if you need to make urgent contact with school.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our school staff for their continued commitment, passion and efforts that they put into our children, as they have shown throughout this half term. I would also like to thank you, as parents/carers, for your support and kind words too. It really does make a big difference.

Kind regards,

Chris Speller
