Weekly Update
Friday, 19th May 2023
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope this email finds you all well. This week has been a busy but exciting week in school with plenty going on.
Yesterday, our Year 6 children went to City Gates Church in Ilford to watch the Saltmine Theatre Company perform Bob Hartman's 'Rhyming Bible'. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching the performance. One lady on the bus, on the way to the performance, watched our children give up their seats to a number of members of the public who the children felt needed them more. She came up to me and said that she had 'never met such a group of polite, well behaved children' and that they had 'restored her hope in young people'. It is always great when other people can see the kind of children we have at our school and celebrate who they are and the values they demonstrate in everyday life.
Our Extra-Curricular activities are also well under way. It has been great to see the music, drama, sport and creativity on show. We have our highest uptake of clubs this term and it has been lovely to see so many children making the most of these opportunities.
Please see the attached flyer from Paddlers Swim School with details of their intensive course taking place during the summer holiday.
We currently have a Midday Assistant vacancy. If you would like more information, please click here.
Next week is the last week of term, but there is still plenty going on! Please see the notices and news below:
Dates for next week
Monday 22nd May- Year 6 Bowling Trip to Namco (please ensure consent and payment is completed on ParentPay)
Monday 22nd-Thursday 25th May: Nursery children completing local visit to the Post Box
Tuesday 23rd May- Whole School Photo (see below)
Thursday 25th May- Last day of the Summer 1 Half Term
Friday 26th May- SCHOOL CLOSED: INSET Day
Whole School Photo
On Tuesday we have our whole school photo. We are very much looking forward to this once in seven years event! Children should be in school in the correct summer uniform and we will be speaking to children on Monday about what will happen and how we expect the children to stand and behave. It should take around an hour to get everyone ready and to take the photo. For those children who may find the event distressing or who are unable to sit for this period of time, we will not expect them to take part.
Community 'Shop'
Our community shop is now up and running. Thank you for the donations of food, clothes and toys. If you would like to add a donation yourself, please add them to the boxes outside of the Office. You are welcome to access the shop outside of the advertised times if this is more convenient to you. Please contact the office to arrange access.
Outstanding Payments
As we approach the end of the first half term, if you have any invoices outstanding or any balances due for Breakfast Club, After School Club, sQuid or any trips, please make sure these are settled by Friday 26th May.
Adventure Island
If you wish to purchase any vouchers to use during half term, please do so via the Parentpay shop by Tuesday so that the finance office can get these to your children before we finish on Thursday.
Thank you for your ongoing support. We hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to welcoming your children back to school on Monday.
Kind regards,
Chris Speller
