Weekly Update: 22nd May 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this email finds you well.

It has been a very busy week in school as we continue to formulate plans for the reopening of school. Subject to there being no change in national guidance, children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 will be beginning to re-join us from Tuesday 2nd June for four days a week (Monday-Thursday) and parents have now informed us which children will be returning. If you have not already replied to say that your child will be coming back to school on 2nd June, please do not send them to school on that date.  The next admittance date for these year groups will be 15th June and we will email you nearer the date so that you can confirm if you wish them to return at that point.

We will be reviewing our provision again in the coming weeks and will consider other year groups joining, including Year 6, from Monday 15th June. We will be in contact with parents again regarding this in due course.

I would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to Parents for all of your contributions to ‘THANK A TEACHER (and other staff)’ DAY. We had over 200 responses which was incredible. We truly appreciate your support and love at this time. I feel truly privileged to be part of a school community which cares and values each other. I thank you all for playing your part in making our school family a special place.

On the request of parents, we have provided work for children to do in half term. This is available on the ‘Home Learning’ page of our website which can be found here: https://www.stedwardsva.net/School-Closure-Home-Learning-15052020083924/
As it is half term, staff have planned more ‘project based’ learning with two choices for each year group... or you can take a look at other year groups if you so choose!  Unfortunately, we will not be having a live celebration assembly next week as it is half term and we will also be busy planning for the children to return, so please do not send photographs of your children's work on this occasion.

School will continue to be open to the children of key workers during Half Term. I would like to thank these staff, once again, for all they are doing with these children. The School Office will be closed on Monday, as it is a bank holiday, but will be open again from Tuesday-Friday (9 am - 3 pm) if you need to phone us. The school email account will continue to be monitored over the Bank Holiday weekend.

We will be having our usual celebration assembly this afternoon at 2 pm. I hope you can join us there. Please ensure any work is sent in by 11 am today to allow us time to print and prepare it.

Kind regards and many blessings,
Chris Speller
Head Teacher
