I hope this email finds you all well. We have had such a positive first week in school! It has been great to see our children so focused and settled. We have also now welcomed our Reception and Nursery children into school who have settled beautifully.
One of the highlights for me this week was our Celebration Assembly this morning. It was great to see the fantastic work that children are producing. As your children may have told you, we have 'tweaked' our behaviour policy this term. Rather than having children on 'blue', 'yellow' or 'red' being publicly displayed on their class displays, we have moved to a praise publicly, sanction personally approach. This way, supporting children to manage their behaviour becomes a pathway between the adults and individual children, rather than the whole class. We believe this approach is much more in line with the nurturing approach we take at school. We are really proud of the excellent behaviour our children show and know that this will be a positive step in supporting children when bumps in the road occur.
Here are a few notices for this week. Please do read and digest them carefully:
Black History Month
In celebration of Black History Month, we at St Edward’s would like to celebrate the diversity in our school and local community by inviting parents/carers of Black heritage to share their culture or historical story with our children. The theme for the month will be “WHO I AM”
We would love for volunteers to either share their culture in school or take part in a video recording showcasing their culture.
If you would like to be part of this celebration, could you kindly email the school on email@example.com with the following information:
· Full name
· Child’s class (if applicable)
· How you would like to volunteer your time
We would like to thank you in advance for volunteering and look forward to working with you to celebrate Black History Month with our children.

School Day Times
A reminder that children should be dropped off in the morning between 8:35am-8:45am. Children arriving after this time must be accompanied to the office by an adult. Children should be collected between 3:10pm-3:20pm. If children are collected late, and taken to after school club, there will be a charge for this.
Our full extra-curricular activity program will be released for sign-up at the start of next week. Parents will have received several emails from our external providers this week. Please note that there was an error on the First Class Kids Football leaflet. To clarify, the leaflet had the wrong days on, but the days on the booking system were correct. Wednesday football will be for Y3 & Y4. Thursday football will be for Y1 & Y2.
Please see attached a leaflet for our very popular Starshine Dance School who meet after school on a Wednesday.
Year 6 Residential
On Wednesday we had a meeting for parents/carers of children in Year 6 who are attending the residential, which begins on Monday 20th September. If you missed the meeting, you can watch a recording Here
A big 'Thank You' to those parents who have contributed to our swimming appeal, without which we would not be able to sustain our swimming provision. If you would still like to contribute, you are able to do so via ParentPay.
Our Toddler Group begins this coming Wednesday, 15th September, from 8:50am in the school hall. We have a few spaces remaining which can be booked via the School Office.
I hope and pray you have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
