Weekly Update

Friday, 21st May 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are all well and that you have had a wonderful week. It has been a week of beautiful skies coupled with heavy rain and hail, but in those cloudy moments we have been making sunshine of our own and it has felt great to be in our school this week.

Despite national restrictions changing, the Department for Education are very much keeping guidance for schools the same, in order to ensure that transmission in the community is not exacerbated by in-school transmission. Children will therefore be remaining in their class bubbles, from Year 2 upwards, and our current safety measures remain in place. As always, we ask that parents play their part by not sending children into school if they, or anyone in their household, have COVID symptoms.

Toddler Group

We are delighted that government guidelines mean that our Toddler Group (for under 3s) can resume. The Group will run on Wednesdays in the Large Hall from 8:50am-10:20am, straight after drop off. It will start again on Wednesday, 9th June, after half term. It will include a story, song and refreshments for the grown-ups. Adults will be asked to keep a safe distance from each other during the session and will be asked to sign in, so we can contact you in the case of any positive cases from the group. If you would like to sign up to attend, as limited places apply, please do contact the school office who will add you to the list.

Book Amnesty!

We are aware that there are a number of outstanding library books and reading books that have not been returned since before the first or second lockdown. I, as a parent myself, have found a few school books at home which have been missed because of the school closures which, you will be pleased to hear, I have now ensured are returned! Please can we all have a look to see if there are any school books at home (particularly Read Write Inc Phonics or Library books) and put these in your child's bag for them to bring back to school. They will be gratefully received!

Half Term Football Club

First Class Kids Club, who run our after school football clubs, will also be running a Half Term, Monday to Wednesday, Football Club for children in Years 2-4. Booking for the Club can be found here: https://firstclasskidsclub.class4kids.co.uk/

Staff Training Day

A reminder that we have a Staff Training Day next Friday, 28th May, so the school will be closed for all children on that day.

I think that is all for now. Have a lovely, safe and blessed weekend.
Kind regards,
Chris Speller (Head Teacher)
