Weekly Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this email finds you well and that you have had a positive week.

On Monday we look forward to welcoming a number of children back to school, including our Year 6 children. We will have around 120 children in school next week, spread across around 11 ‘bubbles’. We will also be continuing to provide school provision for the children of families where both parents are key workers.

As I am sure you will have heard in the media this week, the government have now dropped its requirements for all children to come back to school before the summer holidays, stating that schools should only welcome children back where there is the ‘capacity to do so’. As a leadership team, we are currently consulting with our governors and our staff to consider what this could look like for us, and different models we could adopt to give children the opportunity to return to school, for a short period, before the summer. We do not have the staff or the space to invite all children back at the same time so we need to consider carefully if we can allow other year groups back. Part of this process will involve us gathering some information from parents, so we ask that any surveys we send out are completed by the deadlines set. We will always make it clear that we may not be able to accommodate your requests if deadlines are not kept to. We are currently contacting parents of children in Reception & Year 1, to gauge the numbers of children who will or will not be coming back to school this term, as we may need to open new ‘bubbles’ if we do not have enough capacity within our current set up. After this, we will begin contacting other parents IF we are able to open up to further year groups. We will try and do this with as much notice for parents as possible, but I am sure that you understand that we ourselves have very little notice of changes, both locally and nationally, and therefore are having to respond to and adjust our plans accordingly. At the centre of all we do will be the safety and well being of your children and my staff.

Today we will be having our Celebration Assembly at 2 pm. I am also pleased to say that Miss Pearce will be hosting a Quiz on Facebook Live, next Thursday at 2 pm. Children in school will be doing this whilst on site, so it would be great for children at home to join in too.

The Home Learning Packs for next week are now available online at: https://www.stedwardsva.net/School-Closure-Home-Learning-04052020194713/

As always, if you have any questions or we can do anything to help, please do contact the School Office.

Have a fantastic week,

Kind regards and many blessings,
